His name is Bennett James Rolfes, 14 years old from Des Moines, Iowa. He had the most gorgeous blue eyes I had ever seen, and he was nice to everyone he met. We met at summer camp. He was a stud, everyone liked him and he seemed like a happy, go lucky 14 year old. He has a beautiful sister (in the picture) whom he loved dearly. On the outside he seemed amazing. However, on the inside he was battling a demon no one could see. Bennett was bullied, he was tortured emotionally by kids a his school. No one from summer camp knew until he took his own life in September of 2011. We were devastated, how could someone amazing as Bennett be bullied? To this day my question hasn’t been answered and it’s heartbreaking that people don’t realize how much words hurt until someone dies because of it. NO ONE should have to die for people to start caring. No one deserves to feel worthless. No one deserves to be called gay, stupid, fag, ugly, whore, slut, retarded or anything along those lines. I don’t care what their past is, or what they’re like, everyone is beautiful and everyone deserves a chance. I guarantee if you took the chance to get to know a person you don’t like, you would discover good qualities about them that outweigh the bad. It’s much harder to hate up close. People like Bennett just needed someone to hug them and tell them that everything would be ok. People who commit suicide just want to be loved. They’re so overcome by the pain and self hatred from what they hear people say that they start to believe that they are worthless. They feel like dying would put an end to everything, like they’re doing the world a favor. I know it will make your blog look “ugly” if you reblog this, but reblogging this may show someone who has suicidal thoughts or wants a friend that there IS someone out there who cares and would love to be there for them. Please, reblog this for someone else, make them feel worth it, that they have a purpose. Reblog it in memory of Bennett Rolfes and his family. Reblog it for all of the millions of teens who take their own life every year. Thank you.
